Members of the Plenary Steering Committee of the South American headquarters of the Adventist Church recommended this Sunday, 5th, pastor Edson Medeiros to assume the role of financial director of the denomination for the territory made up of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
However, the name must be approved by the Board of Directors of the General Conference, the Adventist world headquarters, which should occur soon. This procedure is established in the Working Policya set of global regulations that contain guidelines on these and other administrative matters.

If confirmed, Edson Medeiros will replace pastor Marlon Lopes, who retires on June 1, after 46 years of contributions to the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in various positions and institutions of the denomination.
Trajectory
Born in Curitiba, capital of Paraná, Medeiros holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Sciences from the Lutheran University of Brazil and a postgraduate degree in Financial Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS). He has a master’s degree in Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR).
He has experience in the area of General and Financial Administration, with an emphasis on Education, mainly on the following topics: Cost Analysis, Educational Management and Risk Analysis. He began his career at the Associação Sul-Rio-Grandense, administrative headquarters of the Adventist Church for the South of the State, in the area of accounting. He later worked at Associação Sul Paranaense as financial director. He held the same position at Casa Publicadora Brasileira (CPB) for eight years. He served for three years as financial director of União Sul Brasileira, the office responsible for the Church’s activities in Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. He held the same role at União Central Brasileira, Adventist headquarters for the State of São Paulo, for another three years. years. Since November 2021 he has been the general director of Casa Publicadora Brasileira. Married to Zuleica Reis de Medeiros, the couple has two children: Edson and Marcos.
