A 51-year-old woman lost custody of her pet dog after going to a butcher shop and asking them to slaughter the animal. The case took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The information is from Metrópoles.
After the incident, the woman was taken to the police station and the dog Tobías, a nine-year-old golden retriever, was saved by a group of animal protectors.
When asked about the attempt to kill the dog, the owner explained that this was a “country custom”. According to the woman, Tobías only had a few days left to live. However, the animal did not have any terminal illness.
“I don’t understand what the problem is. Let me explain. My father and grandfather are from the countryside. They always worked at the hippodrome. When the horse reaches a certain age, it is sent to slaughter,” replied the woman.
“It’s like a cow. First you remove the skin, then you skin it and use the meat. That’s what animals do. I saw that he was old enough… He’s a good dog, he poops well, he has good teeth”, he added. to the astonishment of activists.
The group of protectors and the police went to the woman’s house and rescued the dog. Tobías was placed in a cage and taken to the police station. The woman also went to the police unit, where she was reported for animal abuse.
