There are rumors that Microsoft is preparing to announce a portable Xbox, and now Xbox boss Phil Spencer has commented during an interview about what he wants to see from it.
Speaking with Polygon, Spencer mentioned the various portable PCs that currently exist, such as the Steak Deck, the ASUS Rog Ally, and the Lenovo Legion Go, praising them for their “look more like a console than a PC” and saying what you would like to add to them so that the experience on them makes you feel like you are playing on an Xbox.
In this case, this includes having access to games and their save data, being able to enter the Xbox menu interface, but in a compact way, and having all the experiences found on the console.
After that, Spencer confirmed that the Xbox hardware team is considering “different hardware formats” to reach “new players”in addition to allowing people “play at times when they couldn’t previously”, giving the impression that a portable Xbox really is in Microsoft’s plans.
It is also important to remember that the court documents that were leaked last year, involving the Microsoft vs. FTC, revealed that the company intends to create a portable Xbox.
