Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe often create different theories to interpret and interconnect the stories of the hero films. For Deadpool & WolverineHowever, this will not be necessary, assured the director Shawn Levy.

“I was a good student at school. I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I definitely don’t want to do homework when I go to the movies,” the filmmaker said in an interview with Associated Press (via Variety).

I certainly made this film with a healthy respect and gratitude towards the fan base that has maximum fluency in the mythology and narrative of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to assume that. This film is made for entertainment, without the obligation to come prepared with prior research.

Although Wolverine died in Logan (2017), the character will return to the film directed by Levi. Hugh Jackmanwho plays the member of the X-Men, explained that the Wolverine in the new feature film comes from a world that he almost destroyed.
