After being officially introduced as the 15th Doctor during the third and final 60th anniversary special, Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa is now ready to live the new version of the character. In an interview with Omeletthe actor talked about bringing more sensitivity to a character already established internationally.

I feel like we are in an unprecedented time [em Doctor Who]in terms of having a Doctor who better understands your emotions”he explained.“We know that the Doctor, as we know him, is an alien and has always tried to escape his vulnerabilities a little. He looked at them and thought ‘What is this? Are they feelings? What are they?‘, and that’s a little bit of my Doctor”, to be continued.

Gatwa goes on to state that, previously, the character “was unable to fully surrender to his emotions.

In addition to this aspect, the new protagonist also talks about the traumas that his timeless character carries during the six decades of the franchise. For him, these situations were rooted in the character and are only now being, in a certain way, worked on in the series. He was a victim of genocide and often loses his friends because they are human and the passage of time is different for him. And it’s nice to be in a calmer era… I don’t know if ‘calm’ is the right word, but it’s really nice to be in a time where the Doctor can open up emotionally..

The new season of Doctor Who serves as a gateway to the franchise, which will be shown in Brazil by Disney+. The first two episodes of the series are available on streaming from today (10).
