Four Brazilians compete in the round of 16 in Argentina

Trelew (Argentina) – Four Brazilian players are in the round of 16 of the ITF M25 in Trelew, an Argentine clay tournament played on indoor courts. After the victories of Ryan dos Santos and Bruno Fernandez last Tuesday, it was Mateo Reyes and Joaquim Almeida’s turn to advance in the competition.

Seeded 6th in the tournament and 739th in the rankings, Reyes beat Argentine Manuel Mouilleron by double 6/1. His next opponent will be local guest Benjamin Chelia. Almeida was leading the first set against Argentine Lautaro Corthey 4/1 when his rival was disqualified from the match after 36 minutes. The event organizers did not provide details about the incident. The 22-year-old faces Chilean Daniel Nunez, seeded 7th.

The opponents of the two other Brazilians in the round of 16, Bruno Fernandez from Santa Catarina faces Argentine Matias Descotte, third seed. Ryan dos Santos from São Paulo challenges Chile’s Matias Soto, the main favorite.

Gutierrez, Saraiva and Rossetto say goodbye

After going through a three-round qualifier, Oscar Gutierrez from Rio Grande do Sul was eliminated in the debut of the main draw of the ITF M25 in Valldoreix, on clay courts in Spain. The experienced 31-year-old player and 914th in the ranking lost to the 21-year-old host and fellow qualifier Alejandro Alvarez by 7/5 and 6/1.

At the ITF M15 in Monastir, on clay courts in Tunisia, Paulo Saraiva was beaten by the Italian Leonardo Rossi by 6/7 (6-8), 7/5 and 6/1. Breno Rossetto was eliminated by another Italian, Andrea Bacaloni, by 4/6, 6/4 and 6/1.
