Volleyball and basketball debuts lead to resumption of competitions this Wednesday

After the break in competition for the opening ceremony, athletes from Unisanta Games will be in action again this Wednesday (8). The night will feature the debut of volleyball and men’s basketball, as well as futsal and society football matches in both categories (men’s and women’s). The duels will be held at the sports facilities of the Santa Cecilia University (Unisanta) and at the Rebouças Sports and Recreation Complex, in Ponta da Praia.

Just like on Monday (6), women’s and men’s futsal matches will take place at the Multisport Gymnasium. The women open the program with the game between Biomedicina Unisanta and Fefis Unimes. Then, the men will take the court for four confrontations: Ed. Physics Unifesp x Medicina Veterinária Unimes; Unisantos Law x Unisanta Physiotherapy (game broadcast live on Santa Cecília TV); Unisantos Communication x Systems Analysis Unip; and Unisanta Architecture x Unimes Law.

Ginásio Laerte Gonçalves hosts the debut of men’s volleyball. The matches will be as follows: Unisanta Law x Unisanta Administration; Arquitetura Unisanta x Medicina Unoeste; Federal Engineering Cubatão x Unisantos Law; and Ed. Physics Unifesp x Fisioterapia Unifesp.

While the Training Center will host three men’s football matches: Farmácia Unisanta x Arquitetura Unisanta (game shown on Santa Cecília TV); Medicina Unoeste x Administração Strong; and Esamc Law x Odonto Unisanta. Finally, Fefis Unimes and Direito Esamc duel in the women’s category of the sport.

New to this edition, the Rebouças court will be the stage for the debut of men’s basketball. The clashes between Esamc Law and Unifesp Physics Ed; Ed. Physics Unaerp and Medicine Unoeste; Unisantos Information Technology and Esamc Business; and Medicina São Judas and Medicina Veterinária São Judas will rock the gym.

Biggest edition in history

The 39th Unisanta Games became the biggest edition in history with a record 46 participating colleges and more than 3,400 registered athletes. In the men’s category, there will be 2,324 athletes, while 1,114 participants represent women’s sports.

Throughout the competition, which continues until May 24, 16 sports will be played – a tournament record –, with 46 colleges registered in the men’s category and 38 in the women’s category. The sport most chosen by men was futsal, with 575 participants. The women defined volleyball as their sport, with 232 registered.
