Antalyaspor, from Türkiye, is negotiating the signing of Cruzeiro idol Alex. The former player could be the new coach of the club from the city of Antalya. The information was released this Monday (6/5), on the social network X (formerly Twitter), by Turkish journalist Salim Manav.
“Antalyaspor reached an agreement with Alex de Souza for the position of coach. Alex de Souza traveled to Antalya during the week”, reported Manav.
Alex’s first experience as a coach was in charge of São Paulo’s under-20 team, between 2021 and 2022. The following year, he was the coach of Avaí in a short spell. He led the team in 18 games (six wins, four draws and eight defeats). Under the command of the former player, Leão scored 22 goals and conceded 25.
In 2023, with Alex, Avaí was eliminated by Criciúma in the quarterfinals of the state championship and fell to Retrô in the first phase of the Copa do Brasil.
Last year, shortly after being released from Avaí, the Cruzeiro idol did an internship with the celestial team, when the team was coached by the Portuguese Pepa.
