19-year-old surfer wins title in Australia

Surfer Léo Casal, from Florianópolis, was champion of the Sydney Surf Pro Junior which ended this Sunday (5), in Australia. At 19 years old, the manezinho beat three Australian surfers in the final and secured the title.

The Campeche surfer won five qualifying heats until reaching the grand final in the competition, which brought together some of the best surfers in the world in the under-20 category.

In this first semester, the athlete is experiencing a positive moment in his career as he had secured third place in the junior world championship that was held in January in California.

“It was a very tough championship here in Sydney, I tried to focus on post-heat to advance in the competition and reach the grand final where luckily I emerged victorious again”, said Léo Casal.

Boy prodigy

Six years ago, Léo also won a competition in Australia. He is one of the talents that has been watched since he was a child and should soon be part of the Brazilian surfing elite.
