It was in 2009 that the current sporting symbol of the municipality actually appeared.: Associação Atleticana Votuporanguense — which became Clube Atlético Votuporanguense shortly afterwards. The mascot was defined: a panther.
CAV reached Series A3 in 2012, when they beat rival Fernandópolis in an exciting final in the interior. The new rise came in 2015, this time for A2.
In the midst of wandering between divisions, the club achieved one of its greatest glories: in 2018, it won the Copa Paulista. The duel was decided on penalties against a powerful Ferroviária, which competed in the state elite that year.
The title gave Votuporanguense a place in the Copa do Brasil and from then on the team entered the CBF ranking. Updated annually, the list only includes teams that compete in a national tournament.
Their trajectory in the competition lasted just one game, which is why the club is last on the list. To advance to the stage, the team had an obligation to win and ended up losing 1-0 at home to Ypiranga-RS.
CAV is in last place having played a single game in the Copa do Brasil recently. When you compete in a CBF championship, you become part of the ranking. That doesn’t mean we’re the worst.
