Red Bull Bragantino and Flamengo were 1-1this Saturday (4), for the 5th round of the Brasileirão. With many controversies, the CBF released the VAR audio of the match.

The team responsible for VAR analyzed the two most controversial moves: De La Cruz’s clash with Pedro Henrique before Luan Cândido’s expulsion and a possible penalty against Luiz Araújo.

Regarding the first move, the VAR audio shows the conversation between Paulo Cesar Zanovelli da Silva, the match’s referee, and Daniel Nobre Bins, the game’s VAR. Initially, Bins saw no foul from De La Cruz and stated ‘There is no foul, we are checking for offside’. However, the video referee went back and called the video referee to analyze the move. See the conversation.

VAR – Daniel Nobre Bins: “Both are leaving the ball and the contact is accidental. There is no foul, we are checking for offside.”

VAR – Daniel Nobre Bins: ”Zanovelli, I’m going to ask you to come and review a possible foul. It’s an accidental situation, but it causes harm to the player, he (De La Cruz) cuts his leg and causes the player to fall. We only have this angle”.

Referee – Paulo Cesar Zanovelli da Silva: “It was an accidental foul. I’m going to go back, I’m going to take out Luan’s red card and come back with a foul here. Ok? Thank you, I didn’t see that foul, thank you.”

Regarding the penalty, the conversation was quick. During the play, the VAR audio captures Zanovelli following the play and speaking. “It was nothing, it was just in the past.” In the review, the VAR says: ‘Checking penalty. Everything ok, it’s not a penalty.” So the game continued.

After the match, Flamengo was scolded. In addition to Bruno Henrique leaving the fieldfootball director Bruno Spindel and vice-president of football Marcos Braz they blasted the CBF and said that the Rio team was being harmed.
