The main card of UFC 301 started with three very important fights for Brazil, featuring a trio of athletes who have been making noise in the octagon to shake up the Farmasi Arena: Vitor Petrino, Caio Borralho and Michel Pereira.

Of these, the last two consolidated their favoritism in their respective fights and left the cage with victory. Petrino, on the other hand, was unable to triumph against a more experienced rival and was defeated early on Sunday (5) in Rio de Janeiro

Vitor Petrino is submitted by former challenger

Among all the fighters who started the main card of UFC 301, perhaps the most complicated mission was that of Vitor Petrino. The Brazilian faced Anthony Smith, a former challenger for the light heavyweight belt, to defend his unbeaten record and had his chances when he managed to close the distance via striking.

But Petrino ended up becoming easy prey for ‘Lionheart’ when he attempted a takedown and ended up in a complicated position on the ground. Smith took advantage of the chance he had to take the guillotine, lock in and submit his rival to end his winning streak.

Another ‘Paraense Voador’ show

When Michel Pereira takes action, there is always excitement and something new. This happened once again, when ‘Paraense Voador soon came at Ihor Potieria, taking down his opponent with a beautiful straight left and showing off yet another of his acrobatics, by performing a combination of flying somersault and elbow, all this with the Ukrainian already on the ground.

To end the fight, however, Michel preferred something more ‘basic’ and went for the guillotine. In just 54 seconds, the Brazilian erased his rival, won another one and showed that middleweight is his new home within Ultimate.

Caio Borralho ‘revenges’ Brazil

During the week, Caio Borralho had stated that he would knock out Paul Craig, his rival at UFC 301, to ‘avenge’ the several Brazilians who succumbed to the Scotsman. And that’s exactly what happened, from the beginning imposing himself and avoiding going to the ground, where ‘Bearjew’ has better ease, always remaining without getting involved in grappling.

Willing to fulfill the promise made during the week, Borralho did not hesitate and went on the attack, with a beautiful left hand, which gave Craig a ‘tremble’. Soon after, using a left cross, he managed to make his wish come true and sent another powerful blow that knocked out the Scotsman and took him to the ground, guaranteeing the maintenance of his unbeaten record in Ultimate, which currently spans six fights.
