After the 1-0 defeat to Sport, this Friday (3/5), Coritiba fired coach Guto Ferreira. The commission formed by Bruno Lopes, André Luis and Valdir Júnior was also dismissed. The decision was communicated by the club itself at Couto Pereira.

“The reasons are not for the game, but rather a permanent and constant evaluation, whether there was an evolution, or not, so that we could perform with greater security to gain access”, explained William Thomas, executive director of Coritiba.

In a statement on social media, Coritiba thanked them for the services provided and informed that James Ferreira will assume technical command on an interim basis from Monday (6/5).

This was Guto Ferreira’s second spell at Coritiba. In 2022, the coach avoided the club’s relegation in the Brasileirão.

Now, in technical command since the end of 2023, he ends his time with nine wins, five draws and five defeats in 19 games. In this short period, Coritiba was eliminated by Águia de Marabá in the first phase of the Copa do Brasil and by Maringá in the semifinal of the Paranaense.
