Cruzeiro comments on the blocking of Itair Machado and Wagner Pires accounts

Cruzeiro spoke out, this Saturday afternoon (4), about the blocking of R$ 819 thousand in the accounts of Itair Machado and Wagner Pires de Sá, former directors of the club. The decision by judge Cláudia Costa Cruz, of the 5th Civil Court of Belo Horizonte, on Friday night (3), was published in the Official Gazette of the State of Minas Gerais.

Marcos Lincoln, legal superintendent of the association, celebrated the blocking of the accounts of former Cruzeiro directors. Businessman João Sérgio Ramalho, partner of the company Veloz e Moraes Negócios e Consultoria, also had his accounts blocked by the courts.

“In 2021, due to the crisis that Cruzeiro was going through, we filed a request for free justice, but we were unable to do so. Therefore, only now, in April 2024, did the Court analyze the action and granted the request to block goods and assets from the accounts of Wagner, João and Itair. The decision is not final and may be appealed by those investigated, but results like this leave us confident that justice will be served in the various processes we have in progress”, he stated.

According to the judge’s decision, there will also be a blocking of amounts related to financial investments and vehicles that are in the name of the defendants.

It is worth noting that the blocking of accounts was motivated by the compensation action filed in 2021 by Cruzeiro Associação. The process is related to the renewal of goalkeeper Fábio’s contract, signed on November 20, 2018. At the time, the agreement provided for the payment of R$900,000 to the company Veloz e Moraes as a commission for expanding the club’s link with the athlete. Wagner Pires de Sá and Itair Machado represented Cruzeiro in the negotiation.

“After the major crisis in Cruzeiro and with the police investigation into the management of Wagner Pires in progress, Fábio gave a statement and claimed that the contract renewal was agreed directly with Itair Machado, at Toca da Raposa II, without an intermediary”, he detailed the club in the note.
