Max Verstappen threw cold water on rumors of a possible transfer to Mercedes in 2025. The Dutch driver reaffirmed his commitment to Red Bull and ruled out the financial factor as decisive in his choice.

Asked about Mercedes’ alleged million-dollar offer, Verstappen was emphatic: “My future is at Red Bull at the moment. Even if they talk about €150 million a year, money won’t make me change. I’m happy with what I currently earn. It’s all about performance. If I was fighting for P5 or P6, I would be frustrated. Performance is what matters, and everyone knows that, including Toto Wolff.”

The Dutch driver values the Red Bull project and believes in the team’s potential for next season. “I think everyone should be optimistic. I want to stay with the team because I believe in the project we have. But in sport and in life, we never know what the future holds,” he added.

Despite Adrian Newey’s departure, Verstappen is confident in Red Bull’s technical capacity to fight for the title in 2025. The major regulation change in Formula 1 in 2026, which puts all teams on equal terms, is also a factor that attracts the Dutchman to remain in the team.

“I’m not thinking much about 2026 at the moment. There’s a lot going on this season and I want to focus on performing well. I also believe that we have a chance to fight for the title in 2025. So, 2026 is still far away”, concluded the Dutchman.
