Walewska’s parents say the widower wants to destroy them and question inheritance < In Attack

Parents of former volleyball player Walewska, who died in September 2023, Maria Aparecida and Geraldo Vieira are defendants in a lawsuit filed by widower Ricardo Alexandre Mendes over the inheritance dispute.

Walewska would have left more than 23 properties and R$5 million in financial investments. Ricardo Mendes is the inventor, responsible for collecting all of the former player’s assets.

Process documents revealed by the UOL show that Maria and Geraldo want to understand where their daughter’s assets are and accuse Ricardo of wanting to destroy them.

“The pain of losing our daughter is immeasurable, but after that Ricardo Mendes, who we had as a son, came to want to destroy us. We don’t want war, the family just wants to understand where the heritage of the fruits of our champion’s work ended up”, says the parents’ defense.

Another document released by UOL alleges that the former player’s assets are nothing more than a property worth R$181,000, a vehicle worth R$71,000, in addition to debts on special checks and credit cards (R$136,000).

Walewska’s death

Walewska Oliveira, died on September 21st after falling from the 17th floor of a building in São Paulo. The Olympic champion left four letters before she died.

Former volleyball player Virna, Walewska’s maid of honor, received one of these letters.

“People still don’t know, but she left four letters: one for her father and mother, one for her brother, for her best friend, Gustavo, and a letter for me and Bernardinho. It was very tough. It’s sad, Wal took her life because of her husband”, said Virna.

In an interview with Sportbuzzthis week, she revealed some messages left by her friend.

“She experienced a somewhat oppressive relationship and was unable to ask for help. When her husband asked for separation, it turned out that he had a child out of wedlock and she freaked out as she had been waiting to be a mother for a long time,” Virna revealed.
