Lucas do Rio Verde and Araputanga hosted the first stages of this season

The first two regional stages of the School Games and the Student Games of Mato Grosso National Teams defined the champion teams of the West and Central-North sports regions. Promoted by the State Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Leisure (Secel-MT), the competitions were held simultaneously in Araputanga and Lucas do Rio Verde, from April 30th to May 1st.

Covering men’s and women’s teams, the modalities in dispute were basketball, futsal, handball and volleyball. Students aged 12 to 14 participate in the School Games and those aged 15 to 17 compete in the Student Team Games.

School teams and municipal teams recognized as regional champions will compete for the titles of Mato Grosso champions in the state stages of their respective competitions, which take place in July. Until then, nine other regional stages will be held, involving all regions of Mato Grosso.

In the West regional stage, the municipality of Cáceres was the highlight of the competition by winning ten championship titles. The sporting event was held in Araputanga and featured 39 teams competing in the School Games and another 39 teams in the Student Games.

In the Central North regional stage, the municipalities with the most winning teams were Sorriso, with seven titles, and Sinop, with four. Based in Lucas do Rio Verde, the School Games were played by 46 teams and the Student Games by another 46 municipal teams.
