Should Luiz Henrique be sent off in Flamengo x Botafogo? The mask rule

Scorer of a great goal in this Sunday’s classic (28), the striker Luiz Henriqueof Botafogohe ran a serious risk of being expelled from 2-0 victory over Flamengoin Maracanã, at Brazilian championship.

According to CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) arbitration rules, players who celebrate goals by putting masks over their faces must be warned with a yellow card.

The winger, in turn, celebrated with a mask of the character “Black Panther”, from Marvelscoring the first goal of the match.

– Cover your head or face with a mask or similar item

The referee Raphael Claushowever, did not present the yellow card to the athlete from Botafogo.

It turns out that, four minutes after the goal, Luiz Henrique committed a hard foul on the midfielder De La Cruzfrom Flamengo, and received a card from the judge.

As a result, if he had been warned earlier, “Black Panther” would have been sent off for the second yellow card. However, as the card was not shown at the celebration, the left-hander ended up getting away with it.

In an interview with Premiere After the match, Luiz Henrique himself admitted that he knew he could be booked for wearing a mask.

He even highlighted that, in the middle of the week, during Botafogo’s victory for CONMEBOL Libertadoresavoided using the “Black Panther” item precisely because it was yellow in the match.

“In the Libertadores I scored a goal (against Universitario-PER), but I couldn’t get the mask because of the yellow card. But I said that I wouldn’t go through today’s game. I was going to score the goal and get this mask. Now He is immortalized as the Black Panther”, said the black and white athlete.

Luiz Henrique was replaced 15 minutes into the 2nd half by Jeffinholeaving the Maracanã pitch with only the yellow color shown by the foul on De La Cruz.
