After ending the first round with only defeats, Ponta Grossa became disenchanted in the Women’s Basketball League (LBF). The team from Paraná achieved its second consecutive victory in the competition, beating Unisociesc Blumenau away from home by 63 to 45 this Friday (26). With the result, Ponta Grossa leaves the bottom of the competition and is now in tenth place in the general classification.

In the first half, Ponta Grossa managed to take advantage on the scoreboard, leading the game by five points at half-time, with 32 to 27. Dominating the rebounds, the Paraná team increased the advantage in the second half, to guarantee their second victory until here at LBF. On the other side, Blumenau made more mistakes, giving the opponents chances to score.
Pivot Nádia was the MVP of the match with 24 efficiency. She had a double-double for Ponta Grossa with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The scorer of the night was Manuela Rios, who scored 23 points. For Blumenau, the team’s individual highlight in the game was Mabel Martinez, with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
With the victory, Ponta Grossa is now in 10th place in the LBF general classification with 15 points, while Blumenau is in fourth place, with 19. The two teams will only play again next week, against the same opponent. On Thursday (2), Ponta Grossa hosts Santo André. On Friday (4), the team from São Paulo continues in the South of Brazil to face Unisociesc Blumenau in Vale do Itajaí.
