A piece of news released by Sport took everyone by surprise this Friday (26). Before the duel against new villagefor the second round of Serie B, the club’s press office updated the situation of the athletes who are in the Medical Department. Among the athletes is goalkeeper Denis, who was recovering from knee surgery carried out at the end of 2023.
The new information is that the athlete underwent a new surgical procedure on his knee, a fact that should generate a new contract with Rubro-negro from Pernambuco. According to the report, a short contract of another three months should be the solution. Remembering that the athlete’s current contract ended at the end of April.
His contract with the club would end at the end of November, however, due to a meniscus injury, Sport had to draw up a new contract with the goalkeeper in order to fully recover the player, as per labor laws. The new contract ended on April 30th. After the new surgery, a new bond must be signed.
Denis debuted for Leão da Ilha in the 1-0 victory against Chapecoense, in Série B in 2022. On the eve of the next game, during the team’s warm-up in training, the player injured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee alone. .
In total, there were ten games for Rubro-negro in the last edition of the Brazilian Series B Championship, where they were conceded 16 times – which gives an average of 1.6 goals per match. In total, he has 11 appearances for Sport.
