A Red Bull returns to having his name agitated in the news Formula 1. Following the news of legendary designer Adrian Newey’s upcoming departure, now it’s time to Max Verstappen have your future in the headlines.

According to the German website F1Insiderthe driver, his father, Jos Verstappen, as well as his manager, Raymond Vermeulen, will meet with Mercedes’ top brass after the Miami GP to seriously negotiate the Dutchman’s move to the German manufacturer’s team. Toto WolffCEO Ola Källenius and Sir James Ratcliffe, from Ineos, will make up the interested party in the services of the current three-time F1 champion.

According to the publication, Max wants to participate in the negotiations to find out Mercedes’ commitment regarding next year’s car, whether it will be better than the current one. Furthermore, Helmut Marko will also be able to join the team.

On Mercedes’ side, money will not be a problem, as Lewis Hamilton will leave the team and, as a consequence, will no longer receive around 50 million euros. According to the website, Mercedes would be willing to offer the highest salary in history to a driver. The ‘package’ would also include a long-term ambassadorial role.

Another factor that could seduce Verstappen is the car that will debut in F1 from 2026, seen as less problematic than that of Red Bull, which will have to debut its version, produced by the team’s own powertrain division.
