Architects and engineers can participate in the public competition for the design of the new Pinhais planetarium, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. The structure will be located in the Newton Freire Maia Science Park.

According to the Instituto Paranaense de Desenvolvimento Educacional, the winner will be awarded R$60,000, in addition to being hired to prepare the legal and executive projects, with financial support of R$338,000. Second and third placed will receive R$25,000 and R$15,000, respectively.

According to Fundepar’s CEO, Eliane Terual Carmona, unlike a tender, the competition offers more project options.

According to the notice, projects must present concepts of a unique and innovative architectural vision, for an educational, cultural, tourist and scientific landmark. The planetarium will be built to project the sky in high resolution, in addition to promoting an immersive and technological experience. The proposals must also include the revitalization and landscaping of the Canguiri River trail, which is located within the Science Park.

The works are expected to receive a total investment of R$40 million.

Some of the evaluation criteria will be contextualization, construction technique, eco-efficiency, comfort and accessibility. Graduated architects and engineers, who are legally qualified and registered with professional councils, can participate.

Registrations can be made until May 28th, through the Sic.Cultura system, individually or in groups, through individuals or legal entities.
