Accompanied by the Secretary of Public Security, Colonel Vinicius Almeida, and the General Commander of the Amazonas Military Fire Department, Colonel Alexandre Gama de Freitas, Governor Wilson Lima was received by the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski.

Among the requests made by the governor are the release of resources from the National Public Security Fund worth R$45.4 million for investments in Amazonas, including actions to reduce violent deaths and combat violence against women, as well as improvements to security professionals.

“We have invested heavily to provide the necessary conditions for our security forces to fulfill their greater duty of protecting our population and the support of the federal government in this process is very important for us to achieve this objective”, stated Wilson Lima.

The governor also presented the need for changes to the ordinance that establishes the guidelines for making the Public Security Fund available and for modifications to the AMAS Program (Amazon, Security and Sovereignty) – to strengthen public security in the Amazon Region – in order to better serve the interests of each state in the region.

Also among the demands presented are the increase in daily rates paid to military police officers who work in operations in the interior, such as Operation Horus (to combat crime in border areas) and Paz (to combat intentional violent deaths), which in 2023 it had 324 employees and in 2024, it currently has 136 men.

State Investments

Governor Wilson Lima also highlighted that, through the Amazonas Mais Seguro program, launched by the governor in 2021, the State has been making several investments in Public Security. On the last day (2), deliveries were made, with support from the Federal Government, totaling R$13.5 million in new equipment and new technologies, including weapons, ammunition and vehicles.

With an investment of R$14.1 million, the new building operates where the old headquarters used to be, deactivated in 2014 with the promise of building a new space.
