“Corinthians is experiencing the perfect storm today”, says Rizek

Corinthians expects to more than double its sponsorship revenue in 2024. After closing last season with revenue of R$117 million, the club projects to earn R$263.2 million, which represents an increase of 125%.

Much of this is explained by the contract signed with VaideBet, which considerably increased the amount received by the club for the main space on the shirt: from around R$22 million per year to R$130 million gross.

However, more is needed to meet the budget forecast. In a document sent to advisors, Corinthians states that it is still seeking to secure an additional R$59.4 million in sponsorships – of which R$43.4 million would come from the professional men’s team (see details in the table below).

To achieve this, the club is racing to close new contracts. Currently, the men’s team uniform has five vague properties: front and back bars of the shirt, shoulder, back of the shorts and socks.

The back hem of the shirt is temporarily occupied during this month in an exchange with Totvs, but will be free again soon.

– My dream is to have a clean shirt, and one day we will achieve it. But now Corinthians needs money in the short term, and the best way to raise it is through sponsorship. We have two properties that are very close to being closed with the same company. And the other two we are negotiating – said Sérgio Moura, the club’s marketing superintendent, in an interview with ge in the beginning of the month.

Currently, Corinthians has five fixed sponsorships for the men’s team: VaideBet (master), Ale (chest), BMG (sleeve), Ezze Seguros (back) and Unicesumar (front part of the shorts). In the final stretch of 2023, the uniform had nine advertisers.

The budget sent to the club’s advisors indicates that the board intends to replace the sponsorship of Ezze Seguros, closed by the former management, under the presidency of Duilio Monteiro Alves, at the end of last year.

– For the coasts, the marketing target value was adjusted to 30 million/year (instead of 50 million/year), generating a budget value of 21 million/year (70%), which in 8 months (May to December) has forecast revenue of 14 MM. The budget foresees maintenance of EZZE until April 2024 – says an excerpt from the document, to which the ge had access.

The budget revised by the Augusto Melo management will be voted on on Monday by the club’s Deliberative Council. The 2023 accounts will be analyzed at the same meeting.
