Cruzeiro officially leaves Pedro Martins and announces new director < No Attack

Cruzeiro made official this Thursday afternoon (25/4) the departure of Pedro Martins. According to the Celestes club itself, the football director accepted Vasco’s invitation to take on the role of SAF executive for the Rio team.

“Cruzeiro informs that Pedro Martins has accepted an invitation for a new professional challenge and is no longer the institution’s football director. We would like to thank you for all your professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm for the club’s objectives, and we would also like to take the opportunity to wish you much success in your journey”, he posted on social media.

A member of the SAF board led by Ronaldo Fenômeno, Pedro Martins has been at Cruzeiro since January 3, 2022. He was the first and only football director of the ‘Ronaldo era’ at the club.

Cruzeiro announces new football director

Raposa also reported that Paulo André will be the club’s new interim football director.

Ronaldo’s right-hand man, Paulo André has had an active voice at Cruzeiro since the beginning of the SAF. In February this year, the director and former player gained more responsibility at the club.

Responsible for the company’s sports strategies holding Ronaldo Nazário, Paulo began to have a greater presence in Cruzeiro’s day-to-day life when Real Valladolid announced the return of Bruno Mazziotti to occupy the position of football manager at the Spanish club.

Pedro will replace director of América at Vasco

At Vasco, Martins will assume the role of executive director of SAF. The position was left by Alexandre Mattos, dismissed by the board of directors of 777 Parterns, in March this year.

Mattos was announced by América last week (15/4). He returned to the club after 13 seasons – it was there that he began his career as a manager, back in 2005.

Alexandre had a memorable spell at Cruzeiro, where he won the 2014 Campeonato Mineiro and the 2013 and 2014 Brazilian Championships. He also had successful careers with other Serie A clubs, such as Atlético, Palmeiras and Athletico-PR.

Pedro Martins’ trajectory

With a degree in business administration and an MBA in Football Industry from the University of Liverpool, Pedro Martins began his career in the world of football at Athletico-PR.

Martins also has experience with Ferroviária and Olé Brasil, in the interior of São Paulo.

Between 2011 and 2012, the professional completed an internship at Queens Park Rangers, in London.

Before working at Cruzeiro, Pedro Martins had experience as vice-president of competitions at the São Paulo Football Federation.
