Flamengo’s Deliberative Council will hold an extraordinary meeting for voting next Monday (08)

The 2024 Brazilian Championship is about to start. However, Flamengo is already thinking about the next editions and must agree to renew its contract with Globo to broadcast the Brasileirão from 2025 to 2029. With this in mind, the Rio de Janeiro club’s Deliberative Council will hold an extraordinary meeting for voting next Monday ( 08).

According to information from the Coluna do Fla report, the meeting will take place at 6:30 pm (Brasília time) next Monday (08). As part of the contract, Flamengo must receive around R$63 million in advance from Globo.

In short, the Libra clubs will receive R$650 million in advance, an amount divided in equal parts between the Libra clubs currently in Series A (Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Bragantino, Grêmio, Atlético-MG, Bahia and Vitória) and the Saints. Finally, the other 3% divided between the other clubs, currently in Series B and C.

Therefore, the contract between Globo and Libra, valid from next year’s Brazilian Championship, will last for five years. The value will be a fixed R$1.3 billion per year, which may increase depending on the broadcaster’s revenue from pay per view.

AGREEMENT WITH GLOBO

The money raised from the sale of Libra broadcasting rights will be distributed among the clubs as follows: 40% equally, 30% per performance and 30% per audience. Teams in Series B will receive a transfer of 3% of the total amount.
