State deputy Cláudio Ferreira (PL) met, last week, with the board of directors of the Federation of Chambers of Store Managers of the State of Mato Grosso (FCDL-MT) to discuss the impact of Bill No. 952/2021, for the productive sector in the state.

The proposal authored by deputy Thiago Silva (MDB) creates a new obligation for small entrepreneurs in Mato Grosso. The proposal aims to force the inclusion of the Procon de Mato Grosso telephone number and address in tax documents issued by commercial establishments, establishing a fine of 100 UPF/MT, which is equivalent to more than R$ 23 thousand, for businesses that do not qualify. in determination.

During the meeting, FCDL-MT expressed concern about the negative consequences of the project for the sector. “Currently, the stipulated fine is approximately R$23,000, which could create a considerable burden for businesspeople in the state, which is why we are discussing this issue,” stated the vice-president of the institution, Gustavo Nascimento.

Deputy Cláudio Ferreira reinforced his support for traders and stated that he will work for measures that enable greater economic development; Furthermore, he recalled the importance of finding solutions that reconcile the interests of businesspeople with the Mato Grosso Procon guidelines and the state’s legal requirements.

In addition to FCDL, the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of Mato Grosso (Fecomércio-MT) also spoke out against the bill.

In a letter filed with the State Government, the institution asked for the proposal to be vetoed.

“The bill in question, insofar as it intends to provide for how the owner will act on his property, by establishing the obligation to add Procon’s electronic website and WhatsApp number to tax documents issued by commercial establishments, carries out an undue interference with private property, in latent violation of the principle of property rights, making it materially unconstitutional”.

For Cláudio Ferreira, it is important to promote a fair and balanced business environment, which benefits not only entrepreneurs, but also citizens who use the services and products offered by commercial establishments.

“We need solutions that do not burden small entrepreneurs and that promote economic development in a positive way for everyone.”
