The rehiring of coach Kleiton Lima to command the Village Mermaids generated revolt in the niche of Brazilian women’s football. In September last year, the coach left Santos after 19 letters from players reporting moral and sexual harassment and demanding improvements and more competitiveness in the sport.

Since then, Peixe had appointed coach Bruno Silva in charge of the women’s team. However, after four rounds in the Brasileirão and little progress, the club decided to fire the professional and bring back Kleiton Lima. The Alvinegro board understands that there is no problem as the case has not had any legal development.

However, after the announcement of the coach’s return on Tuesday afternoon (02), players spoke out on social media. In the comments on the club’s Instagram post, midfielder Formiga and attacking midfielder Andressa Alves lamented the situation. Former player Francielle and other athletes from Corinthians, Peixe’s rival, commented on the case.

Goalkeeper Jully, defender Kaká and full-back Gi Fernandes, who were on the Santos squad in 2023, also posted on the networks.
