One of the highlights of UFC, Victor Petrino fight this Saturday (4), in Rio de Janeiro, against Anthony Smith with a dream: to be light heavyweight champion (93 kg). Aware that Alex Poatan is at the top of the category, the athlete opens the door to holding a Brazilian duel in the future.

In an exclusive interview with Ag. Fight, Petrino praises and makes a point of highlighting the respect he has for ‘Poatan’.

However, ‘Cabuloso’ stressed that he cannot give up on his dream because they defend the same country. It is worth noting that, if he beats Smith on Saturday, the athlete, number 15 in the division’s ranking, should join the top-10 and, thus, gain strength towards a possible title fight.

“Poatan is a guy I respect a lot, he’s the champion, he deserves to be there, but he’s the guy to beat. I’m going to do everything I can to get there, not because I’m Poatan, but because he’s the champion. It doesn’t matter who is there. My goal is to be a champion one day. Maximum respect to the champion. He’s a deserving guy, but it’s the place I want to occupy in the future. Every fight is a fight and I will do everything to get there. If it’s him, let it be a great fight”, declared the fighter.
