Flamengo demands, and Pixbet matches Corinthians sponsorship

Flamengo, which already has the most valuable shirt in Brazilian football in total sponsorships, will also once again have the largest individual contract with a sponsor. After three months of negotiation, Flamengo’s marketing managed to get Pixbet to match the amount paid by competitor Vai De Bet to Corinthians and should make the new agreement official in the coming weeks.

MRN found that Flamengo cited a clause in the contract that predicted that Pixbet would have to automatically increase the amount paid to Flamengo if it agreed a higher amount with another club during the duration of the contract, which runs until December 2025. Although the contract with Corinthians is not with Pixbet, Flamengo managed to convince the sponsor that the agreement was undervalued and threatened to go to the market to look for alternatives if the bookmaker did not match Corinthians’ offer.

In this way, Flamengo will guarantee an additional R$35 million annually, a total of R$70 million more over the two years of the contract. The value will go from R$85 million per year to R$120 million per year, the same amount paid by Vai de Bet to Corinthians.

With this, Flamengo’s marketing will exceed the already ambitious target of R$250 million in sponsorship value for the shirt in 2024. The total paid by sponsors to display their brands on the red and black uniform will exceed the R$230 million secured after the renewal of the contract with BRB last Monday for R$265 million.

Flamengo’s expectation is to finalize the last details of the contract with Pixbet and take it to the Deliberative Council for approval in the next three weeks. The promise was made by the red-black vice-president of Marketing, Gustavo Oliveira, to the Deliberative Council last Monday. Without mentioning the name of the sponsor, he said, when updating the total amount paid for the new shirt, that “in another three weeks we will return here with an even higher value”.
