This Tuesday (2), Robinho’s defense appealed and filed a request for freedom to revoke the former player’s arrest. This was made to the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The request from Robinho’s lawyers is that he be allowed to respond in freedom while some appeals are still analyzed. The former athlete was arrested two weeks ago, convicted of the gang rape of a young Albanian woman, in a nightclub in Milan, in 2013.
As Brazil does not extradite native citizens to serve sentences in other countries, the Italian court requested that the former attacker receive the sentence here. According to Robinho’s defense argument, as there may still be appeals against the STJ’s decision, there would not be a scenario in which he would face prison during this period. According to lawyers, the arrest would be ‘illegal’.

As of this week, Robinho’s routine at the Tremembé penitentiary, in São Paulo, has undergone some changes. After a period of isolation, you will begin to have contact with other prisoners.
