The contract renewal was scheduled for October 2023, but was never signed. The agreement was for a new contract until December 2028 and with salary increase, as Gabigol has not received a raise since the definitive purchase in January 2020.

The conditions, however, were not well regarded by a wing of the red-black board, mainly due to the length of the contract due to the athlete’s performance in 2023. At the time, Landim did not agree to the renewal and defended waiting for the 2024 season to analyze the player.
