O Botafogo won the Taça Rio title and a place in the 2025 Copa do Brasil. Furthermore, one player in particular excelled in the match. Midfielder Patrick de Paula entered the field in the final stage. The player returned to action after more than a year due to a serious knee injury.

“Only me and my family know everything I went through. It was a lot of prayer from my mother too, which helps me a lot. It was difficult, it was painful because I remember when I fell in the game. I knew I had injured myself, but I wanted to know how serious it was, and then the news came that I had to undergo surgery and stay out for the entire time,” he told BandSports.

Patrick de Paula has recovered from a serious knee injury suffered in February 2023, in a Botafogo match against Flamengo. The player had to undergo surgery in March, with recovery treatment lasting more than a year.

Now, the player will continue to improve his physical aspects to gain space in the black and white squad this season.

After the Rio Cup title, Botafogo turns its attention to its debut in the Copa Libertadores. The team faces Junior Barranquilla this Wednesday, at Nilton Santos, at 7pm (Brasília time).
