Brazilian pairs fail qualifying in the Saquarema Challenge

The Saquarema Challenge began this Thursday (28), on the World Beach Volleyball Circuit. The first day of the competition featured a qualifying contest, with four Brazilian pairs advancing to the group stage. Hegê/Vitória, Taiana/Thalita, Andressa/Thainara and Vinicius/Heitor join the other teams from Brazil that were previously classified for the competition.

Hegê/Vitória started the day with a 11/21 and 14/21 victory over Argentines Najul/Peralta. In the second round of qualifying, they beat Gutierrez/Flores, from Mexico, by 21/16 and 21/9 to advance to the group stage of the Saquarema Challenge.

Taiana/Talita beat the Polish Ciezwoska/Lunio by 21/18, 18/21 and 15/13 in their debut. Then, the Brazilians beat the Chinese Wang/Dong by 15/21, 21/14 and 15/12. Andressa/Thainara beat the Japanese Shiba/Maruyama by 21/15 and 21/17. In the last qualifying game, they beat Paulikiene/Paupelyte, from Lithuania, by 16/21, 21/14 and 15/12.

In the men’s category, the only Brazilian pair that made it through qualifying for the Saquarema Challenge was Vinicius/Heitor. They debuted in Saquarema with a victory over the Israelis Elazar/Cuzmiciov by 31/29 and 21/16. Then, the Brazilians faced the Dutch Luini/Varehorst. The pair from the Netherlands took the lead, but Vinicius/Heitor won the match by 18/21, 21/16 and 15/12.
