The Europeans are charging around 4 million dollars (around R$20 million at the current currency rate) in the negotiation that involved the hiring of Peruvian Christian Cueva, in 2020, at the end of the administration of former president José Carlos Peres.

The document is in the possession of Peixe’s legal department, which has already notified the football department. In the FIFA system, the punishment will only be published next Monday, as updates are weekly. Even so, the sanction is already valid for the Vila Belmiro club.

– We will pay. Let’s get it right and let’s pay. We don’t have a deadline, but we are gathering it. Once again, it will greatly harm the budget, which is already overly compromised. But there is no alternative. We have to fulfill this commitment. Fulfill the obligation. We will comply and we will pay.

The Santos leader explained that Peixe sought to negotiate with the Russians, either involving players or providing guarantees for the payment of the debt, but Krasnodar maintained its stance of denying the agreements. Teixeira also rejected the possibility of using defender Joaquim to end the punishment.

– We are not going to give in to Joaquim. The only options we were given did not include any of the starters. Santos’ priority was to provide guarantees. We hoped they would be enough. We provided guarantees for the new contracts, proving that Santos had receivables and would commit to making the installments in accordance with the receipts that Santos had during the year. They weren’t that long installments. We had even made it for this year 2024.

Despite regretting the situation, the president of Santos said he understood the European club’s position.

– There is a lot of wear and tear and that is understandable. If I were on the other side, perhaps, I would be acting the same way. He ended up having a transfer ban. When the transfer ban arrives, the club just wants the other, who is the debtor, to fulfill their part. There is no alternative.

Cueva was signed by Santos in February 2019 for US$7 million, from Krasnodar. Still under the Peres administration. The following year, the Peruvian midfielder left Vila Belmiro to play for Pachuca, in Mexico, and Peixe interrupted the payment agreed with the Russians.

The case ended up at FIFA, Santos won the case and received more than R$23 million from the Mexicans. However, even with the money in hand, he did not pass it on to the Russians and kept the debt active. In 2021, under Andres Rueda’s management, Peixe renegotiated with Krasnodar and split the purchase of Cueva.

However, once again, the club did not honor the entire agreement and was sued by FIFA. This time, the entity that manages world football decided to condemn Santos with a transfer ban.
