A show booked at the last minute by Slipknot at the Pappy + Harriet’s bar, in the United States, delighted Brazilian fans this Thursday, 25th. The event, held in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the band’s first album, was also the first performance of the group’s new drummer, who , according to fans’ rumors, is the Brazilian Eloy Casagrande.

Although neither the band nor he had made an official confirmation about the Brazilian’s presence – Slipknot, famous for their characteristic masks, tends to remain a mystery about the identity of their members –, internet users began to gather clues about the hiring of the drummer. On X, formerly Twitter, posts compared tattoos and the mysterious musician’s way of playing with Eloy.

O Estadão contacted the drummer to ask about a possible move to Slipknot, but has not yet heard back. If so, the article will be updated.

On Thursday, the members took to the stage wearing the characteristic jumpsuits that marked the group’s beginnings. They celebrate the anniversary of the band’s 1999 debut album Slipknot with a tour.

Rumors about Eloy’s presence gained even more strength after Mi Vieira, lead singer of Gloria, the drummer’s former band, published a video of the performance with what was associated with praise for the musician. “I’m very happy for you, king. And tomorrow I will post the classic photo to show how the world turns,” he wrote.

Eloy became known as the drummer of Sepultura, the most important heavy metal band in the country, which he joined in 2011, at the age of 20. The announcement of the musician’s departure shortly before the band’s farewell tour took fans and even the group by surprise in February. Sepultura began performing with Celebrating Life Through Death in March – the drummer was replaced by the American Greyson Nekrutman.

At the time, according to the group, Eloy said he would pursue a career in another project. “We were taken by surprise, without prior notice or any kind of debate about how to make the transition. Communication was made and he immediately left the band, abandoning everything related to Sepultura,” said a statement.

In November, Slipknot announced the departure of Jay Weinberg, then the band’s drummer. Shortly afterwards, the musician also said he was taken by surprise by the decision. “I was upset to receive the call I received on the morning of November 5th; the news that many of you would learn about shortly after,” he wrote in a statement on Instagram. Eloy started playing drums at age 7 and, at 13, he was the winner of the Batuka International Drum Fest. In 2005, a year after the award, he was also the winner of the Modern Drummer’s Undiscovered Drummer Contest.

In addition to Sepultura, he was also a member of the band Gloria and 2ois. Eloy was also part of the Catholic Christian rock group Iahweh and the backing band of singer André Matos, who died in 2019.
