Off the field after undergoing surgery in early March to correct a urinary infection, Flamengo midfielder Gerson has to pay R$1.5 million to businessman Federico Pastorello, with whom he has been in dispute since 2020. The deadline for Debt settlement will last until April 3rd. Failure to do so may result in the player being suspended.

In June 2020, Gerson’s father, Marcão Silva, filed a notification with the National Dispute Resolution Chamber (CNRD), a body created by the CBF, alleging the nullity of the representation contract that the family had with P&P Sport Management, a company of Pastorello, whose headquarters are in Monaco.

Marcão’s argument at the time was that Federico Pastorello did not have a license to work in Brazil. P&P Sport Management responded with action requesting validation of the contract and the requirement to participate in future negotiations.

The allegation is that Pastorello did not have a CBF license to work in Brazil when the representation contract was signed.

The CNRD decided to warn Gerson and ordered him to pay around R$1.5 million by April 1st. The National Dispute Resolution Chamber understood that Marcão Silva’s contractual termination with Pastorello took place without just cause.

A recent case in Brazil happened to striker Leandro Carvalho, formerly of Botafogo and Ceará. Currently at Águia de Marabá, Leandro breached an agreement made to pay R$225,000 to TFM Agency (currently Roc Nation) in December 2019. As he ignored warnings and subsequent decisions, he ended up suspended for two months and was released to return to acting. only after paying off the debt.
