The Brazilian men’s basketball team already has its next challenges planned. The team will face Slovenia, Croatia and Poland in friendlies starting on June 24th, as part of the preparation for the Pre-Olympics in Riga, Latvia. The decision was announced by the Brazilian Basketball Confederation this Wednesday, a week after Croatian Aleksander Petrovic took over as coach of the team.

High-level games against European teams will be essential for the preparation of the Brazilian team for the Pre-Olympic challenge. Petrovic, visibly confident, stated that the duels will be fundamental for the team’s progress towards qualifying for the Paris Games. Before traveling to Europe, the team will train on Brazilian soil.

The sequence of friendlies will begin on June 24th, with a clash against Poland in Opajita, Croatia. Two days later, the Brazilians will face the Croatian hosts at the same venue. The last challenge will be on the 28th, against Slovenia, in the capital Ljubljana.

The last time the Brazilian team faced Poland was three years ago, with Brazilian victories in two friendlies before the Pre-Olympics. Against Slovenia, the Brazilians also have a recent record of success, achieving victories in past clashes.

The call-up of players for friendlies and the Pre-Olympic will take place in the coming weeks. The team’s debut in the qualifying tournament will be on July 2nd against Montenegro, followed by a clash with Cameroon on July 4th. The winner of the tournament guarantees the Olympic spot, making each match crucial for the Brazilian team’s objective.
