Loaned by Cruzeiro until the end of June, Lucas Oliveira revealed the behind-the-scenes of his time at Real Valladolid, in Spain. Despite the few opportunities with Paulo Pezzolano, the coach who led him to the Brazilian Championship Series B title, the defender said he adapted to European football quickly.

In an interview with OGol, Oliveira commented on his relationship with Pezzolano at the club, also managed by Ronaldo. One of the few foreigners in the cast, the 28-year-old defender has been constantly on the bench. It is worth mentioning that Valladolid is fighting to return to the elite of Spanish football next season.

“It’s a little difficult for those who aren’t used to the climate and environment, but we, Brazilians, are able to adapt a little faster than normal. It helps a lot to already know the committee and know what they like about the game, Having some Brazilians on the team helps even more, so that has made things easier”, he confessed.

During the interview, the defender also highlighted that Cruzeiro and Valladolid’s methodologies are similar, which makes it easier for the player to adapt.

“There are two connected clubs, with the same methodology, if you manage to visit both, you will see that they have similar ideas. These can be great opportunities for players on both teams… knowing how to take advantage of them is a big step in your career”, he added.

With an open heart to returning to the capital of Minas Gerais, Oliveira also declared himself to Cruzeiro.

“Cruzeiro will always be in my heart. Regardless of what happens now, I have a dream of achieving great things at this club”, he concluded.

Oliveira for Valladolid and Cruzeiro

For Valladolid, Oliveira played two matches and spent just 13 minutes on the field. For the celestial club, the defender played 79 games and scored four goals, as well as two assists.

Oliveira has a contract with Cruzeiro until the end of 2025. He arrived at the club in 2022, on loan from Atlético-GO. Previously, he played for Bangu and Tigres do Brasil, where he began his professional career in 2014.
