FIFA laboratory delays, and test on the Allianz pitch is postponed

-

The inspection by the FIFA-accredited laboratory on the Allianz Parquewhat was scheduled to take place this Tuesday morning (26)had to be postponed.

According to the ESPN, the team that would carry out the tests was expected in São Paulo last Monday night (25). However, there was a delay, with disembarkation only taking place this Tuesday.

Therefore, the procedure was postponed until next Wednesday (27).

It will happen after the Palm trees carry out training prior to the semi-final of the Paulista championshipagainst Novorizontinoon Thursday night (28).

It is worth remembering that Verdão will train at Allianz Parque, and not at the Football Academy, so that the athletes have contact with the renovated synthetic pitch, which has had cork imported from Europe applied.

Having the OK from a laboratory authorized by football’s highest governing body is mandatory so that the field can be used in international competitions, such as the CONMEBOL Libertadores.

For Paulistão, however, the grass has already been inspected by the FPF (São Paulo Football Federation) and released for use in the State.

FIFA’s four previous tests (2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023) were carried out with synthetic grass still using the thermoplastic compound, with the entity giving approval at every opportunity.

At the turn of the year, however, the plastic ended up melting due to the heat and pollution in São Paulo, turning into a slime that stuck to athletes’ boots.

As a result, the decision was made to remove the compound and replace it with cork, which is a natural product and does not melt.

In the test carried out by laboratories accredited by FIFA, factors such as ball rolling and pitch flatness, among other factors, are analyzed.

As soon as it has approval from football’s highest governing body, Palmeiras will be able to nominate Allianz as its stadium for Libertadores duels.
