Gabriel Medina shone in the debut of the Bells Beach stage, in Australia, the fifth of the current season of the World Surfing League (WSL), this Monday (25). The Brazilian obtained the best score of the day (9.00) and beat Liam O’Brien and Cole Houshmand to reach the third round. Miguel Pupo, Yago Dora and Italo Ferreira also qualified.
Caio Ibelli, Samuel Pupo and Deivid Silva lost their respective heats and will compete in the repechage, aiming to return to title contention in Australia.

In the women’s contest, Luana Silva advanced directly to the round of 16. Tatiana Weston-Webb, in turn, lost and went to the repechage.
