Created by Corinthians, full-back Carlos Augusto has shone at Inter Milan, winning not only the Scudetto – the Italian title – but also securing another four years of contract with the club. With 41 games for the team, starting 16 times, he has been the most used substitute in the squad.

“I had the goal of debuting in the Champions League. Now, we can raise that goal a little further. Win the Italian more often, have a winning cycle. I’m very satisfied with my season. Of course every player always wants more, but I think my role was to help a lot and be ready when they needed me. It’s the first season, and there was an important leap”, he told ge.globo.

Carlos Augusto, it is worth highlighting, was trained at Corinthians and remained at the club for a decade, until being sold to Monza. In Italian football, however, the player was even more prominent, being called up at the end of 2023 to defend the Brazilian team in four games of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

“I stayed at Corinthians for a long time, but I ended up not playing as much, having that impact. When I left and stayed at Monza, there was the Covid period. So, you kind of disappear. When I came to Inter Milan, there was a change and I felt the affection of the fans”, he said.

“This is gratifying, I always want more, I want to do my best for Brazil. But for that you have to work hard. You feel the difference, yes, of people rediscovering you. It’s what he says: the same thing he praises is the same thing he criticizes. But we players already know about this, we have to keep a calm head, regardless of bad or good”, he continued

Now, Carlos Augusto eagerly awaits his first opportunity in the Brazilian national team under the command of Dorival Júnior. In the last call-up of the new Amarelinha coach, the former Corinthians player was not called, while the full-backs called up were Ayrton Lucas, from Flamengo, and Wendell, from Porto.

“We know that there are quality Brazilian players all over the world, and they follow everyone. I didn’t have any conversations in person, but I know they pay attention to all the players who play for Europe, for Brazil. I have to do my job well, and if the opportunity arises, always be ready”, he concluded.

Corinthians will receive ‘hefty’ for selling Carlos Augusto

Corinthians is about to receive a “jackpot” for the permanent purchase of Carlos Augusto by Internazionale de Milano, in Italy. Timão holds 60% of the surplus value from a future sale of the former full-back by Monza, the current holder of the player’s economic and federative rights.

The added value will be calculated by the difference between the definitive sale of Monza to Inter and the amount paid by the Italian club to acquire the Corinthians athlete. This calculation does not include the loan amount of 4.5 million euros that Inter Milan paid to Monza.

  • Final sale value of the Monza: 7.5 million euros;
  • Value of purchasing Monza from Corinthians: 4 million euros;
  • Difference: 3.5 million euros;
  • 60% of the added value: 2.1 million euros.

Furthermore, it is important to highlight that Corinthians will also receive approximately 3.75% of the sale value, which is equivalent to approximately R$1.53 million, through FIFA’s solidarity mechanism. Adding up all the values, Timão will profit approximately R$13 million from the sale of Carlos Augusto. These values have not been officially confirmed by any of the parties involved in the negotiation.
