Shopee expects increase in value of Mother’s Day gifts this year

A survey of the online retailer Shopee pointed out that its users in Brazil intend to spend, on average, 340 reais on gifts from Mothers Day this year, 69% more than in 2023. Furthermore, only 30% of respondents already know what they are going to buy for their mothers. Among the preferred items when choosing are clothes and accessories (52%); home, kitchen and decoration items (19%); electronic products (12%) and health and beauty products (12%).

According to the survey, for 58% of respondents, the price of gifts is the most important factor when purchasing. Next, children give importance to the gift that their mother wants to receive (16%), the ease of finding the product (15%) and, finally, that it is something that surprises (9%).

Online purchasing is the main choice for 69% of respondents who say they are used to purchasing online. When looking for a gift, 48% prefer to first choose what they are going to buy and then look for the store with the best offer. 34% prioritize looking at the price range and then searching on the internet.

Most consumers are increasingly looking to purchase items for their mothers. This is what 39% of respondents say, who usually guarantee their gift three weeks or more in advance. 25% want to buy in one or two weeks and 11% in one to three days.

Regarding the tools used by consumers to search for the best gifts and discounts, Google leads, being the most used platform by 41%, while 40% buy from recommended stores and 28% prefer Instagram. For 25% of respondents, YouTube and Pinterest are seen as good options, and 11% trust Facebook.
