Lula and STF make the Legislative Power dispensable, annulling its decisions

-

The existence of the Legislative Power is in question, with the new affront of President Lula (PT) calling on his allies in the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to annul yet another federal law, this time the one that deals with the partial exemption of taxes levied on payroll of payment. Defeated five times, twice in the chamber, twice in the Senate and once in a joint session of Congress, Lula used the docility of Senator Rodrigo Pacheco on the fourth and on the fifth (25) he outmaneuvered him.

Lula seems to be trying to establish a new “institutional” order, in which whatever he decides prevails. For “good” or with the help of allies in the STF.

Minister Gilmar Mendes made it clear, in a recent interview, that the final word will be from the STF, “decide what you decide” in Congress,

Thus, suspicions of the implementation of an authoritarian regime gain strength, which imposed fear on a cornered parliament, almost a superfluous Power.

Another STF minister annuls federal law approved in Congress, a reason for the Senate’s reaction when approving the limitation of monocratic decisions.

Event with almost zero relevance was held at The Peninsula London

Minor events take authorities abroad

Never before in the history of this country has there been a seminar of British authorities discussing the United Kingdom in São Paulo or in the beautiful Maceió, for example, nor have Portuguese ministers debated Portugal in the stupendous Nannai resort, in Praia do Forte. But Brazilian authorities love events abroad, without relevance, as long as they are held on the “Helena Rubenstein circuit” in Lisbon, London, Paris or New York. Diplomats say that the European media mocks these bad events, which explains the ban on journalists at the “1st Legal Forum” in London.

Three STF ministers, others from the government and politicians leaked to London for this event with no relevance, except for the prosecutors.

The event at the luxurious The Peninsula London, next to the royal Buckingham Palace, did not involve any costs to the public coffers, says the STF.

Always open to spending the week or enjoying holidays outside the country, some authorities seem to think that this makes them “international”.

Power without shame

I name, you pay

The late Humberto Lucena (PB) loved to nominate relatives when he presided over the Senate. When he was called “the fastest pen in Brasília”, he called out the reporter who had mocked him and threatened legal action. And he ranted: “Naming relatives is only pejorative in the South,” he said. “In the Northeast, people actually like it.” The journalist, from the northeast of Pernambuco, lost his patience. He pulled Lucena by the arm and said in his ear, firmly, almost shouting: “We both know that Mr. You’re lying, but I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear.” Lucena would not bring up the subject again. He wouldn’t even sue the journalist.

The president of Novo, Eduardo Ribeiro, called the relationship between the PT government and the Federal Supreme Court an “alliance”: “When Lula loses in Congress, he goes to the STF because he knows he will win there.”

Impeached by the TSE in 2023, former prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol is an official pre-candidate for mayor of Curitiba for Novo. In the last poll he was technically tied with four other candidates.

Confidence in Elon Musk remains unshakable in the USA: shares in Tesla, his electric car company, began the week falling to US$141, despite record revenues of US$53 billion last year. But it rose like a Space X rocket and closed the week worth US$168.

Offended by Felipe Neto, the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira, called the Legislative Police and the Courts against the PT member, who soon retreated, claiming he had made a “joke”. His ugly face offending Lira belies the “humor”.

Quote of the day

“A good time to discuss spending cuts”

Rodrigo Pacheco, suddenly brave, suggesting an offensive against the Lula government

Councilor of Formosa (GO) Hermes Costa (União), a city where citizens have an average income of 2.1 minimum wages, suggested readjusting the councilor’s salary to R$300 thousand. And he blamed the people, who, he says, “ask for too much”.

The Federal Police took over an investigation investigating a complaint from Congresswoman Dayany Bittencourt (União-CE) who found hidden cameras in the apartment where she lived. There are more than 164 thousand audiovisual records.

Jair Bolsonaro fulfills his agenda in Sergipe without the presence of Michelle Bolsonaro. The former first lady was diagnosed with Influenza A. Under medical advice, she spent seven days in isolation.

If he does not yellow again, the Congress session to consider Lula’s vetoes will be in the second week of May, as promised to leaders by the docile president of the senate, Rodrigo Pacheco.

…free market in lies is politics.
