The website only displays a table with 11 locations that would benefit. Among them is Grota do Pau D´Arco, in the Jacintinho neighborhood, which was serviced at the end of last year.

“Residents of yet another neighborhood in Maceió can now live more peacefully after the completion of a new hillside protection project,” the Municipal Communication Secretariat stated in November. There were no expenses from the ministry for this work.

When contacted by UOL, the city hall did not comment. The space remains open.

Last year, Alagoas suffered from rains in July, but the capital was not the hardest hit.

The most affected municipality was Matriz da Camaragibe, followed by Marechal Deodoro, São Miguel dos Milagres, União dos Palmares and Rio Largo. None of these cities were covered by the Ministry of Regional Integration and Development’s prevention action last year.

In 2023, the ministry also committed resources to Icapuí (CE), with 20 thousand inhabitants (R$ 7.5 million), followed by Tibau do Sul (RN), with 16 thousand inhabitants (R$ 5.6 million). Nothing related to these commitments has been spent so far.

The state of Santa Catarina, which has been hit by rain in recent years, was left with just R$3 million. Even so, the resources were allocated due to a court decision that forced works to be carried out in an indigenous community.

Four rain prevention actions by the ministry were not committed in 2023. Even so, they received R$40.8 million. The reason is that the government used the so-called “remains to be paid” from previous years, that is, resources that were reserved but pending to be applied.
