Left-wing politicians and PT president in MG are removed from event with Lula in Nova Lima

Minas Gerais state deputies from left-wing parties left, before the start, an event with the participation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in Nova Lima, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH). They were removed, according to the ceremonial ceremony, from chairs positioned in the first row in front of the stage set up for speeches by Lula and other guests. The list of those who left the activity early also includes deputy Cristiano Silveira, who presides over the PT directory in Minas Gerais.

In addition to him, PT parliamentarians Ulysses Gomes, Andréia de Jesus and Doutor Jean Freire left the event, as well as state deputies Bella Gonçalves (Psol), Lohanna França (PV) and Ana Paula Siqueira (Rede).

Leader of the opposition bloc to governor Romeu Zema (Novo) in the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG), Ulysses Gomes protested against the decision to organize the event — the inauguration of an insulin factory.

“Unfortunately, the ceremonial officer linked to the company asked us not to stay in the place we were. Is very bad. We are from President Lula’s government and we support the government. We are here recognizing the importance of investment. It doesn’t make sense, the way the company’s ceremonial approach, for us to continue here. We will continue to identify the importance of this investment and recognize the importance of President Lula’s visit,” he said, to Itatiaia.

Although she praised the investment in an insulin production plant in Greater BH, Bella Gonçalves criticized the stance of those responsible for the ceremony.

“We are in support of President Lula and consider this an important event. Minas will produce insulin for Brazil. The relationship needs to be one of greater respect with the parties of the allied base, including the Psol, and with the base of deputies who fight daily in defense of the Lula government in Minas”, he said.

As seen by the Itatiaia, deputies removed from the front row were asked to leave their seats moments before the event began. The group claimed that if they left the chairs, they would have nowhere to stay throughout the ceremony, as the space was full. The appeals were denied.
