The municipalities that make up the 16th RS are: Apucarana, Arapongas, Bom Sucesso, Borrazópolis, Calif., Cambira, Faxinal, Grandes Rios, Jandaia do Sul, Kaloré, Marilândia do Sul, Marumbi, Mauá da Serra, Novo Itacolomi, Rio Bom, Sabáudia and São Pedro do Ivaí.

The latest dengue bulletin released by the State Department of Health (Sesa) this Tuesday (26) records 306,340 notifications of possible cases of the disease in the 399 municipalities of Paraná, 135,961 confirmations and 77 deaths. Of these, 29,025 notifications, 21,508 cases and 15 deaths belong to the 16th RS, currently making it the region with the highest incidence of dengue in the State.

The expansion complies with letters sent by Sesa to the Ministry of Health. “This is a request that we had already made a while ago: that the new batches of vaccines be distributed to other regions. We are waiting for the quantity and the technical note, but we already know that the region that will be served at this moment will be the 16th Health Region of Apucarana. Paraná will continue to be attentive, anticipating situations and helping the Ministry of Health and municipalities to reach the best possible percentage of people vaccinated against dengue”, said the Secretary of State for Health, Beto Preto.

DISTRIBUTION – According to the federal government, a batch with 930,000 doses will be distributed and destined for the start of vaccination in these new regions, in addition to more shipments to municipalities that have already been covered to guarantee the continuity of immunization in these locations (administration takes place in two doses ). The shipping date of this new shipment has not yet been confirmed, the Ministry of Health estimates that distribution will begin next week.

Paraná has so far received a single batch of Qdenga immunizers produced by the pharmaceutical company Takeda with 35,025 doses. These vaccines were destined for 21 municipalities in the 17th Health Region of Londrina, with 23,064 doses, and nine cities in the 9th RS of Foz do Iguaçu, with 11,961 doses. According to a Sesa survey, released this Monday (25), 19,694 vaccines have been administered to date, around 56% of the total received.

DOSE RESHANGMENT – The Ministry of Health also stated that it will release a Technical Note this Wednesday (27) formalizing the recommendation for states to relocate doses to municipalities that were not included in the first distribution, given that the expiration date of these immunizers it’s short. The Paraná lot, for example, expires on June 30th.

According to the federal government, a list of municipalities eligible to receive the vaccine will be made available and states will have the autonomy to reallocate the doses available to these cities. Also according to the Ministry of Health, the folder will guarantee the second dose for these regions.

In practice, municipalities that did not receive doses in the first shipment, if they are listed by the Ministry of Health as priority regions (a list that has not yet been released), may receive doses from municipalities that did not have population adherence and have vaccines in stock.

Sesa awaits the officialization of this information through a document from the Ministry of Health. The State has already started a survey with the municipalities that received doses from the first shipment to measure the number of vaccines available and define new distribution strategies, if necessary.
