A group of eight people were left behind in São Tomé and Príncipe after being late returning to a Norwegian Cruise Line cruise, which sails around the west coast of Africa.

On March 27, passengers left the ship to take a private tour while the vessel was docked and did not return until 3 pm, the deadline for returning to the ship. Thus, they were left behind on the island.

“While this is a very unfortunate situation, guests are responsible for ensuring they return to the ship at the published time, which is extensively communicated via the ship’s intercom, in daily communication and published shortly before leaving the ship,” the company said in a statement. communicated.

The eight people’s passports were handed over to local port agents so guests could pick them up. Now, they are responsible for getting to the next available port and reboarding the ship.

The group attempted to return to the ship at the scheduled stop in Gambia, however, the vessel did not dock due to adverse weather conditions and tidal restrictions, which require a specific time for safe passage.

The group would try to embark this Tuesday (2), when the cruise stops in Senegal. Among those trying to return to the ship are elderly people, a paraplegic person and a pregnant woman. One of them had been without heart medication for five days.
