Andreas says the way Eloy chose to communicate his departure from Sepultura was “weird”

Brazilian musician Andreas Kisser, guitarist and leader of the band Sepultura, participated in the program “Conectados”, broadcast on Transamérica radio. During the chat, which aired on April 1st, presenter Renato Tortorelli asked Andreas to talk about the departure of drummer Eloy Casagrande, who left Sepultura in February this year.

Eloy Casagrande’s departure

Sepultura announced the departure of Eloy Casagrande through a post shared on social media.

“On February 6th, a few days before the first rehearsal (for the farewell tour), in an extraordinary meeting, drummer Eloy Casagrande informed the band and managers of his departure from Sepultura, to pursue a career in another project.

The band was taken by surprise, without prior notice or any kind of debate about how to make the transition. Communication was made and he immediately left the band, abandoning everything related to Sepultura.

Fortunately, the virtuoso American drummer Greyson Nekrutman will take over from Eloy Casagrande, and will be welcomed as a new member of the band on the Celebrating Life Through Death farewell tour,” the statement said.

Maybe for the band’s fans it doesn’t make sense at this point, but decisions needed to be made thinking about new cycles to come. We are made of choices and they are not always easy. My departure will never erase my respect and gratitude to the band.
