His estranged daughter, Lee, wonders if he is returning to his past vices or if there is something more sinister at play. Directed by Joshua John Miller, from The Queen of the South, the cast also includes Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.

Inspired by the real archives of Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican, the film shows the story of the priest who performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his life and died in 2016 at the age of 91. Amorth wrote two memoirs – An Exorcist Tells His Story It is An Exorcist: More Stories – and detailed his experiences battling Satan and demons who grabbed and possessed people with their evil.

The plot follows the priest as he investigates the terrible possession of a boy and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy that the Vatican has desperately tried to protect and keep in oblivion.

While The Pope’s Exorcist is available in the Max catalogue, The Exorcism does not yet have a release date in Brazilian cinemas.
